Multi-Level Campaign to Again Benefit the Needy with Donation of 500 Mammography Screenings

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MIAMI, FL – September 30, 2011 – Once again this October, Dade Medical College will "Go Pink" in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In an effort to increase awareness and preventative care for this disease, the college will be donating 500 mammography screenings to benefit low-income and uninsured women in the community, a private investment of more than $50,000.00.

"We are glad to be taking on this deadly disease once again," states Dade Medical College President and CEO Ernesto Perez. "Awareness of the devastating effects breast cancer has on women can only aid in the prevention of it," he adds. "Dade Medical College remains committed to helping those in our community who are most in need."

In addition to the donation of the mammography screenings, Dade Medical College's website will be pink throughout October and feature online fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Also, the school is sponsoring billboard ads across Miami-Dade and Broward counties promoting breast cancer awareness and the free screening giveaways and conducting an on-campus awareness initiative for students and staff.

Key community partners for this campaign include:

The month's activities will include fundraising within the four college campuses and online for the American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" campaign October 1-31 (the college will match both totals, in effect doubling the donations), a college-wide "Pink Day" where all employees are encouraged to wear pink to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month October 5, sponsoring a table display at The Falls' "Strut Your Stuff For Cancer" event October 6, a signature fundraising mixer event October 27 as well as individual campus celebrations on dates to be announced.
